Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center provides residents of Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry and York counties with more convenient access to expert care from Penn State Health. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Mountain range off Interstate 81 in Hampden Township, the newly opened, 110-inpatient-bed community hospital joins Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center on the West Shore.
Patients have access to comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, skilled physicians using the most advanced technology, an emergency department ready to help when seconds count and a dedicated Women and Babies Center to support growing families.
As part of the Penn State Health family, patients at Hampden Medical Center have quick and coordinated access to the world class expertise of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State Health Children’s Hospital in Hershey, all right here, close to home.
Penn State Health and Highmark formed a partnership in 2017 to invest $1 billion in growing a comprehensive health care network for the central Pennsylvania and Berks regions. Hampden Medical Center is a significant part of fulfilling that promise.

Inpatient and Surgical Services
At Hampden Medical Center, we provide adult acute care services, including medical-surgical, intermediate and intensive care, emergency medicine and labor and delivery.
Penn State Health employed physicians and providers and independent community providers care for patients at Hampden Medical Center. Our hospitalists lead the health care team and coordinate round-the-clock care for hospitalized patients with nonsurgical issues. Equipped with the most advanced surgical technologies, such as the da Vinci robotic surgery system, our skilled surgeons and compassionate providers deliver leading-edge care to help patients get back to the health they need to live the way they want.
Outpatient services offered at Hampden Medical Center include non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostic services, imaging, lab and urology. To schedule cardiovascular diagnostic services and imaging, please call 717-972-4900.

Hampden Medical Center provides complete care for all women’s health needs, including labor and delivery.
Our new, state-of-the-art Women and Babies Center at Hampden Medical Center opened on Dec. 1, and features spacious, comfortable labor and delivery, antepartum and postpartum rooms and a neonatal special care and well-baby nursery. The center also has dedicated operating rooms for cesarean deliveries.
Our priority is to ensure that the birth of your child is a safe, joyous and beautiful experience. If you or your baby require advanced specialty care, you will benefit from the locally coordinated care provided between clinical teams at Hampden Medical Center, Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State Health Children’s Hospital in Hershey. Our Children’s Hospital has the area’s only Level IV neonatal intensive care unit, the highest level of neonatal care.
