Penn State Health is committed to helping you make informed health care choices.
Patients seeking a more accurate view of the potential costs of their care can use a secure, online pricing tool. Search from a collection of the most common health procedures. New procedures are regularly being added to the list.
This tool requires the patient to enter personal information, select a medical procedure from the list and enter specifics about their insurance. The online tool calculates a price. However, the calculation might still vary from the final cost a patient sees on a bill.
Please note that what is charged for a service usually does not reflect your out-of-pocket responsibility as many other factors typically affect your bill.
As of Jan. 1, 2021, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) defined a list of 300 "shoppable services" that hospitals are required to make available to consumers so that they can understand their out-of-pocket costs. These services can be found on the pricing tool or by contacting one of our Financial Navigators. For Holy Spirit, below is a list of shoppable services with Medicare Rates.
Our Navigators are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Please have the following information available, so that we can provide you the most accurate estimate possible:
- Health Insurance Information
- Procedure (CPT) code or description of medical procedure – This code is a five digit code used by all hospitals, physicians and insurance companies to identify a type of service or procedure.
As of Jan. 1, 2021, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires that hospitals post charges for medical items and health care procedures that you might receive at each of our hospitals to help you compare charges with other hospitals.
Penn State Health is providing online access to a Machine-Readable file of items and services in JSON format. "Machine-readable" means that the data file can be easily processed by a computer. The JSON format is one of the file formats approved by CMS, and is a frequently used, standardized file format for data exchange.
In addition, this site meets the prior Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirement to provide the Chargemaster Fee Schedule.
The Google Chrome browser is suggested to access the fee schedule.
