The system includes five adult acute care hospitals, including its flagship teaching and research hospital, Penn State Health Milton S. Penn State Health Children’s Hospital ranked among the top children’s hospitals for pediatric cancer.

U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals 2023-2024

The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center was named one of the top hospitals in the nation for orthopedic care on the U.S. News & World Report 2023-2024 “Best Hospitals” rankings for the seventh consecutive year. Penn State Neuroscience Institute at Hershey Medical Center was also ranked for neurological and neurosurgical care. Hershey Medical Center is recognized as “high performing” in six additional specialties: cancer, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, pulmonology and lung surgery, and urology.

Overall, U.S. News & World Report ranked Hershey Medical Center as No. 1 in the Harrisburg metro region and No. 5 in Pennsylvania, out of more than 200 hospitals evaluated.

Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center is rated as a high-performing hospital for treating heart attack and stroke. Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center earned a high-performing rating for treating heart failure, heart attack, pneumonia and stroke.
