The mission of Supply Chain Management is to provide services (contracting, sourcing, inventory management, store and distribution and value analysis) to customers (users, physicians, and ultimately our patients) in a timely and efficient manner so that the quality and clinical effectiveness objectives of the total organization are achieved.

Supply Chain Services and Scope

Supply Chain Management supports both Penn State Health (Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and its subsidiaries, St. Joseph Regional Health Network and its subsidiaries) and the Penn State College of Medicine. Currently, the pharmacy and dietary departments purchase pharmaceuticals and food products, respectively outside of this process. Supply Chain shared services for the health system include Strategic Sourcing and Contracting, Informatics and Value Analysis.


Vendor Credentialing – includes how to become a vendor, and information on the policies and procedures that need followed.

  • To become a vendor to Penn State Health, you must be registered with:
    • Symplr (Milton S. Hershey Medical Center)
    • Reptrax (St. Joseph)
  • All vendors are required to abide by all policies and procedures that are uploaded to each of the credentialing platforms.
  • You should not schedule meetings or introduce new products/services prior to being credentialed. 

Supply Donation policy and procedure

Supply Chain Management currently donates all excess supplies to an external organization who supports needs around the world.
