Join our team of dedicated volunteers who help create a welcoming and supportive environment for patients, families and staff. Whether you're offering comfort, lending a helping hand or simply sharing a smile, your time and talents can make a real difference.

Volunteer opportunities

Volunteers serve in a variety of roles at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, including but not limited to:

• Patient Experience – Provide comfort items by bringing the Comfort Cart through waiting areas and patient rooms.
• Outpatient Surgery – Greet and direct patients and guests to the appropriate surgical waiting areas upon admission. Assist with the check-in process, support the waiting room attendant, and help staff with daily operational tasks. Available weekdays only, from early morning to early evening.
• Cath Lab Waiting Room attendant – Greet and direct patients and guests to the appropriate surgical locations, assist with the check-in process, and support the waiting room attendant. Early morning shift.
• Patient Companion – Spend one-on-one time with patients or families by playing a game, reading, watching movies or putting a puzzle together.
• Entrance greeters and wayfinders – Help direct patients, families and visitors to various destinations. Must be able to push a wheelchair.
• Emergency Department patient partner – Serve as a connection between patients, their waiting families and the staff. Complete comfort rounds, offer amenities and provide an excellent patient experience. Various shifts and days are available.
• Pet Therapy – Bring your certified therapy companion to the hospital to deliver joy and comfort to patients, families, visitors and staff. All therapy pets must be registered through one of the approved organizations provided by our volunteer services team.
