Vice President, Oncology Clinical Services

Penn State Health is recruiting an accomplished physician leader to serve as Vice President, Oncology Clinical Services.

The Vice President, Oncology Clinical Services will partner in a dyad leadership model with Health System Administration to provide strategic and operational oversight for oncology services across the system. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, this leader will advance a comprehensive, integrated vision for medical and surgical oncology throughout the communities served by Penn State Health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the highest standards of quality and safety in the delivery of oncology care.
  • Foster an exceptional patient and colleague experience across all oncology settings.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a highly engaged and talented oncology provider workforce.
  • Optimize the value and performance of oncology services across the continuum of care.
  • Provide strategic direction to strengthen and expand oncology programs in alignment with system priorities.
This physician executive will lead, by example, modeling behaviors that reflect the organization’s mission, vision, and values while delivering measurable results aligned with the health system’s strategic goals. The role requires a steadfast commitment to providing individualized, compassionate care to patients and collaborative partnership with colleagues, business partners, and the broader community.

Minimum Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of clinical experience
  • At least 2 years of medical leadership experience (e.g., medical directorship, medical executive committee service, or equivalent leadership role)
  • Current Pennsylvania Medical Board license
  • Board certification in clinical specialty and ongoing active clinical practice
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and the ability to inspire trust and respect among peers, care teams, and stakeholders
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and change leadership capabilities
  • Ability to lead within a complex, matrixed health system environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 or more years of clinical experience
  • 5 or more years of progressive medical leadership experience
