Providing Vital Mental Health Services in Central Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (PPI) is a behavioral health facility in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization programs. As a Penn State Health enterprise, the institute boasts a comprehensive team of specialists dedicated to providing critical care and services for children, adolescents and adults living with mental health issues in central Pennsylvania and the surrounding region.

As part of our integrated academic health system, PPI benefits from behavioral health research, new treatments and the development of the next generation of behavioral health professionals in collaboration with Penn State College of Medicine.

Since opening in 2008, PPI has made important progress in psychiatric care, including creating the following programs:

  • Advances in Recovery Clinic to treat opioid use disorder and other substance use disorders
  • Children’s psychiatric unit
  • Penn State College of Medicine Community Psychiatry Residency track

About us

Our team includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, outpatient therapists, case managers, behavioral health specialists, intake coordinators and more, all dedicated to making a difference in mental health.

Additional positions are available at the PPI Division Street Clinic, an adults-only treatment center, and the Third Street Clinic, which provides outpatient programs and partial hospitalization programs for adults, teens and children.
