The Vice President of Medical Group Administration provides strategic and operational leadership across physician and Advanced Practice Provider (APP) practice operations while driving success in Penn State Health’s value-based care (VBC) initiatives. This executive leader plays a critical role in strengthening our unified medical group, optimizing ambulatory performance, improving patient access, and advancing population health outcomes across government and commercial value-based contracts.
Why This Role Matters: As the Vice President of Medical Group Administration, you will serve as a core executive leader driving the future of healthcare delivery at Penn State Health. This pivotal role blends strategic vision with operational excellence, overseeing physician and Advanced Practice Provider (APP) practice operations across our expanding unified medical group. You will be the architect of our value-based care (VBC) initiatives, directly influencing population health outcomes, clinical excellence, and patient-centered access across both commercial and government portfolios.
What You’ll Do
Executive & Strategic Oversight: Shape and translate system-wide strategy into practice-level goals. Partner closely with clinical leaders to identify business opportunities, practice acquisitions, co-management agreements, and community expansion points.
Practice Optimization: Build and refine formal Faculty Practice Plan governance, design forward-thinking recruitment and configuration strategies using economic and market modeling, and evolve provider compensation models to enhance productivity and quality.
Value-Based Care & Population Health: Champion Medicare Advantage growth and performance strategies, leading risk adjustment factor (RAF) optimization, quality improvements, and utilization management.
Operational Excellence: Modernize clinic operations, improve patient access, reduce wait times, and standardize cost-effective provider support staffing models across an integrated delivery system.
Data & Technology Leadership: Leverage advanced healthcare data analytics, dashboards, and EMR workflows (Epic) to drive collaborative, data-driven insights and accountability.
Who You Are
An Experienced Executive: You bring a minimum of 10 years of healthcare operations experience (ideally within an integrated delivery system) alongside 7+ years of formal leadership experience.
A Strategic Thinker: You possess deep knowledge of ambulatory care operations, provider compensation models, revenue cycle workflows, and payor contracting alignment.
A Collaborative Influencer: You excel at matrixed stakeholder management, building trusted relationships with executive suites, clinical chairs, physicians, and community partners.
Educated for Success: You hold a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, or a related field (a Master’s degree is highly preferred).
Tech-Savvy Leader: You are highly proficient with EMR systems (Epic preferred) and advanced reporting/analytics tools like Power BI or Tableau.

📍 Please note: This is a fully on-site executive leadership position located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. We believe the collaboration, partnership, and visibility this role requires are best achieved through an in-person leadership presence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, or related field
- 10 years of healthcare operations experience, ideally within an integrated delivery system
- 7 years of formal leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of ambulatory care operations, provider compensation models, and revenue cycle workflows
- Extensive background in payor contracting and program alignment between health systems and payors
- Expertise in EMR systems (Epic strongly preferred) and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills across multidisciplinary teams

- Master’s degree
- Demonstrated ability to work within a matrixed health system environment
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
- Ability to influence change and drive results through collaboration and data-driven insights
