SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Transplant Financial Coordinator is a designated member of the Transplant Team and is assigned the primary responsibility of coordinating the financial aspects of care for transplant candidates, donors, and their families. This is a patient-facing position responsible for pre-transplant/implant financial clearance but also prior authorization procurement and maintenance. This position improves the patients’ financial experience by providing transparency on payer requirements, the patients’ estimated personal financial liability, and by connecting patients with other financial assistance if appropriate. The primary role is to work directly with patients with the most complex financial situations and obtaining authorizations for continuance of transplant/implant care. This may be related to having resources from multiple payers or on-going conditions that produce financially significant costs. Primary responsibility of this role is to ensure financial viability of all transplant referrals throughout the continuum of the transplant/treatment process. This position also serves as a go between insurance companies, patients, and PSH billing offices. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • One (1) year of experience in a customer service setting. 
  • Two (2) plus years of insurance or financial experience required. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Certified Transplant Financial Coordinator (CTFC) through the Transplant Financial Coordinators Association (TFCA). If the Certification is not held at the time of hire, must establish a plan with the supervisor for obtaining certification within two (2) years of date of hire.
