SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Produce ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for use by physicians. Responsible for performing general ultrasound as well as diagnostic gynecologic and obstetrical sonograms in accordance with established departmental guidelines and protocols. Special interest and expertise in OB ultrasound, ability to recognize normal and pathological conditions and ability to apply additional studies as indicated.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties independently:

Transabdominal and transvaginal gyn scans

Detailed sonographic evaluation of a fetus or multiple fetuses; including but not limited to:

· First trimester scans

· Complete anatomy scans (minimum Level 1 scanning ability)

· Growth scans

· Cord doppler studies where indicated

· Biophysical Profile scans

General Ultrasound scanning as needed: Abd, Small Parts, limited vascular scanning.

Able to communicate effectively with physicians.

Reviews patient’s EMR and prior exams.

Provides ultrasound guidance for physicians during procedures.

Cleans transvaginal/transabdominal probes.

    Facilitate diagnostic results by obtaining, reviewing and compiling pertinent patient history.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

    Must be registered or registry eligible by ONE of the two following accrediting bodies: 

    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)(S) with Sonography 
    • ARDMS-American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
