SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Ensure program implementation for the safety of employees, patients, visitors, and students. Ensure regulatory (DOH, TJC, OSHA) compliance within all areas of responsibilities in Penn State Health and College of Medicine buildings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
- Conduct safety inspections, including above ceilings. Submit written safety recommendations to department heads, as needed, and follow-up on all recommendations. Maintain records and report dates of inspection and compliance.
- Conduct monthly and annual fire extinguisher inspections and maintain associated equipment and documentation.
- Ensure completion of inspection and testing of fire suppression systems per regulatory requirements and maintain associated documentation.
- Conduct fire drills. Submit written recommendations to department heads, as needed, and follow-up on all recommendations. Maintain required records of fire drills.
- Perform random inspections of on-going projects. Report findings to the contractor/project manager and the department responsible for overseeing the work, as applicable.
- Coordinate the implementation of Interim Life Safety Measures as required for new construction, renovation and identified life safety code deficiencies
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct safety training programs for employees, volunteers, students, physicians, contractors, etc.
- Provide applicable reports to leadership and local, state, federal and accreditation agencies as requested.
- Support various safety committees/ meetings and present related performance reports.
- Respond to and investigate incidents.
- Available for 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotational basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
- Associates degree plus two (2) years or High School diploma plus four (4) years experience
