SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center's Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Service Line is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to primarily provide inpatient psychiatric consult services throughout the hospital. We are recruiting for a full-time Physician Assistant (PA-C) with psychiatry experience. Candidates with certification or experience in Addiction Medicine are strongly encouraged to apply. 

The ideal candidate will be licensed in Pennsylvania and have a minimum of 2–3 years of experience providing psychiatric and/or behavioral health care. Experience evaluating and managing patients with substance use disorders, co-occurring psychiatric conditions, and complex behavioral health needs is preferred. 

Responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations and consultations, developing treatment plans, providing medication management, and collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, social workers, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team. The Physician Assistant will provide inpatient and telehealth services at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and other Penn State Health sites as needed while working within an established and collaborative behavioral health team. 

The Physician Assistant functions as an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team and provides comprehensive patient care services across the continuum of behavioral health. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, care coordination, patient and family education, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment
  • National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
  • Minimum of two to three years of psychiatric or behavioral health experience
  • Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Psychiatry
  • Experience in Addiction Medicine, substance use disorder treatment, or dual-diagnosis psychiatric care.
  • Experience providing inpatient psychiatric consultation services.
