SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is an allied health professional who is qualified by academic and practical training to provide service in anatomic pathology. Responsible for performing all procedures and duties assigned within the Anatomic Pathology (Histopathology/Cytology) laboratory section and may include duties in other laboratory sections if so assigned, which would include cross training or assisting in other sections of the laboratory as needed. Under the general supervision of a supervisor or section manger, this position performs all procedures in a prompt, accurate and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. They must demonstrate ethical and moral attitudes and principles, which are essential for gaining and maintaining the trust of professional associates, the support of the community and the confidence of the patient and family. An attitude of respect for the patient and confidentiality of the patient's record and/or diagnosis must be maintained at all times. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Experience working in a clinical or laboratory environment, preferably within a pathology or histopathology laboratory.
  • Familiarity with handling patient specimens and basic medical terminology.
