SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This is a hybrid role, caring for patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. 

The General Surgery and Medical Weight Loss APP functions as an integral member of the surgical services team, supporting care across the inpatient, outpatient, and perioperative setting. This hybrid role is designed to provide comprehensive APP support for general surgery patients while also contributing to a structured bariatric surgery program that includes a medical weight loss component.

The APP will provide clinical care for surgery patients in the hospital and clinic setting, including inpatient rounding, consult support, discharge planning, postoperative follow-up, patient education and care coordination. In addition, the APP will evaluate and manage patients seeking medical weight loss, obesity treatment, metabolic risk reduction, and nonsurgical weight management.

This position supports improved access to care, continuity across the surgical care continuum, patient throughput, chronic disease management, and long-term outcomes for patients with general surgical, obesity, and obesity-related conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • National certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse
  • Current license to practice as CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners
  • Two (2) years' work experience as a RN
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
