SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is seeking an experienced and visionary Nurse Manager to lead one of the region's most advanced inpatient oncology nursing teams. As Nurse Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for a 39-bed inpatient oncology unit caring for patients with hematologic and oncologic malignancies, stem cell transplants, and cutting-edge CAR T-cell therapy. You'll partner with multidisciplinary leaders to foster innovation, strengthen quality outcomes, advance evidence-based practice, and create an exceptional experience for patients and team members alike.

Key Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for inpatient oncology nursing services
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop nursing staff and frontline leaders
  • Drive quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based practice initiatives
  • Foster employee engagement, succession planning, and professional growth
  • Ensure efficient utilization of staffing, financial, and operational resources
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and care delivery

About the Unit

The Inpatient Oncology Unit provides specialized care for patients with:

  • Hematologic and solid tumor malignancies
  • Stem Cell Transplant
  • CAR T-cell Therapy
  • Complex oncology and hematology conditions

Nurses receive advanced specialty education, including Oncology Nursing Society/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONS/ONCC) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification during orientation, supporting a culture of lifelong learning and clinical excellence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a Master's Degree in Nursing required. 
  • Five (5) years clinical experience required. 
  • Progressive leadership experience required. 
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Oncology experience.
