Position Highlights

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including pediatric oncology, hematology, stem cell transplant, critical care, infectious diseases, surgery, radiology, and supportive care services
- Manage a diverse patient population including children with leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, brain tumors, sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, and other complex hematologic conditions

Responsibilities
- Provide overnight inpatient coverage for pediatric hematology/oncology patients inclusive of inpatients and home patient calls
- Evaluate and manage acute clinical concerns, including fever and neutropenia, pain crises, transfusion reactions, oncologic emergencies, chemotherapy-related toxicities, and other urgent conditions
- Perform admissions, consultations, cross-coverage assessments, and discharge planning as appropriate
- Coordinate care with attending physicians, fellows, residents, nursing teams, and subspecialty consultants
- Respond to rapid clinical changes and participate in emergency management and stabilization of critically ill patients
- Facilitate safe and effective patient handoffs between daytime and nighttime providers
- Document patient encounters and treatment plans in accordance with institutional standards
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and educational initiatives within the division
Qualifications:
Nurse Practitioner Candidates
- Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current Pennsylvania licensure or eligibility for licensure
- Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification preferred
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in pediatric hematology/oncology, pediatric hospital medicine, pediatric critical care, emergency medicine, or other acute care pediatric settings
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Ability to function independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
