Position Highlights

  • Manage a diverse patient population including children with leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, brain tumors, sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, and other complex hematologic conditions

Responsibilities

  • Provide overnight inpatient coverage for pediatric hematology/oncology patients inclusive of inpatients and home patient calls
  • Evaluate and manage acute clinical concerns, including fever and neutropenia, pain crises, transfusion reactions, oncologic emergencies, chemotherapy-related toxicities, and other urgent conditions
  • Perform admissions, consultations, cross-coverage assessments, and discharge planning as appropriate
  • Coordinate care with attending physicians, fellows, residents, nursing teams, and subspecialty consultants
  • Respond to rapid clinical changes and participate in emergency management and stabilization of critically ill patients
  • Facilitate safe and effective patient handoffs between daytime and nighttime providers
  • Document patient encounters and treatment plans in accordance with institutional standards
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and educational initiatives within the division


Qualifications:
Nurse Practitioner Candidates

  • Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Pennsylvania licensure or eligibility for licensure
  • Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification preferred

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in pediatric hematology/oncology, pediatric hospital medicine, pediatric critical care, emergency medicine, or other acute care pediatric settings
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to function independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
