SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Located on the iconic and bustling Union Deposit road in Harrisburg, the Penn State Health Andrews Patel – Hematology Oncology Services Harrisburg office is seeking a Medical Lab Technician to join the team! This office operates during week-day/daytime hours, so enjoy your weekend, evenings, and holidays at your leisure! You may need to travel and work at the Camp Hill location, as needed.
The Medical Lab Technician will be responsible for overseeing specimen testing on the Hematology and Chemistry analyzers, as well as manually staining and scoping differentials. The MLT will need to work with speed and accuracy as timely results are a staple of this position. The hired candidate will be working as part of a laboratory staff and will oversee orienting and training new employees, as needed. This position is an opportunity to expand your knowledge and experiences in the continually developing field of Hematology and Oncology.
On occasion, it may be required for you to work at the Camp Hill facility due to staffing schedules.
The ideal candidate for this position may have the ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) certification, but all candidates must meet the standards as depicted under ‘Minimum Qualifications’. Teamwork is a big part of the culture at Andrews Patel HemOnc in both Harrisburg and Camp Hill, so be prepared to bring the fun on ‘FUN Fridays’!
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology required or three (3) years of college and completion of one (1) year CAHEA accredited school of medical technology required, or Bachelor of Science in chemistry, biological or physical sciences plus one (1) year of experience/training in the specialty/subspecialty in which the tests are performed required, or three (3) years of accredited college course work and completion date in compliance with Pennsylvania clinical laboratory regulation required, or performed duties of a medical technologist prior to June 14, 1974, and with continuous (full- or part-time) pertinent, clinically related laboratory employment since that date required, or passed proficiency exam given by the HHS (formerly HEW) with designation as a clinical laboratory technologist required.
