SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for maintaining and modifying the Broadcom/VMware operating/application environment using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer. Test, debug, implement, and document VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x platform & applications dealing with the overall PSH multi-site architecture. Work independently on nearly all phases of operating environment systems. Evaluate new and existing infrastructure products. Assist other systems programmers and analysts to effectively utilize the system's technical software. Lead projects that have a moderate impact on the overall enterprise.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist or perform generation, installation, implementation and maintenance of operating systems and/or software packages, database management or data communication packages used on enterprise level multi-user distributed server environment.
- Maintain server systems programs. Participate in teams to evaluate, test, and install enterprise systems programs.
- Provide technical assistance to persons designing and implementing enterprise server hardware/software systems such as operating/database management/data communications systems.
- Assist server operations, and support personnel as well as vendor hardware/software specialists in isolating and resolving hardware and software problems.
- Monitor the performance of assigned enterprise server systems. Isolate, correct and improve operational efficiency through changes to the software packages or reconfiguration of hardware.
- Evaluate and make recommendations to enterprise server hardware and/or software systems.
- Sustain a high level of technical skill by attending and completing various seminars and training courses and reading appropriate literature. Communicate this knowledge to others as required.
- Maintain a consistent, high quality, customer-focused orientation when conducting business and providing services or products to clients, the general public and other external customers.
- Interact with IRT management and submits status reports, upgrade recommendations, problems, and questions.
- Participate in on-call schedule to provide non-business hours support of systems. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Responsible and accountable to comply with cyber security policies, standards, and processes in accordance with the Enterprise Cyber Security Program Plan.
- Formally document, design, manage, and/or operate in accordance with cyber security requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Either: (a) Bachelor's degree plus four additional years of related experience or (b) eight years total of related experience. Adheres to and exhibits our organizational core values as outlined by Penn State Health.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive knowledge and experience in the following stacks: VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x and all related software/modules.
Extensive knowledge in the underlying technology within this solution.
Experience with Dell Enterprise Server and HCI infrastructure.
