SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Director of Finance, Regional Community Hospitals- West Region is part of the Shared Services Finance Division at Penn State Health. The Director will report to the Vice President of Finance, Hospital Division and will contribute to the overall success of the organizations’ by effectively managing, monitoring, partnering and coordinating key financial tasks across PSH Community hospitals. The Director will positively represent the Shared Services Finance Division and will engage in interactions that collaboratively and consistently support Operations from a financial perspective throughout the department and operational teams. The Director will also maintain an on-site presence that provides consistency and continuity to the various leadership teams, in conjunction with the EVP and chief financial officer and the shared services finance team.
The Director will have the responsibility to work cross-functionally with all shared services teams and all levels of financial and operational management to support the financial performance and execution of the overall mission, vision, and strategy of the assigned Penn State community hospitals. This position is a key member of the community hospitals senior leadership teams, as well as the shared services financial leadership team.
The role has responsibility for the financial aspects of the community hospital operations in the west region and is expected to analyze data and partner with other areas to implement recommendations based on findings to promote profitable outcomes. Additionally, the Director will manage and lead the team through month end, year-end, and annual budgeting, with key interaction and seamless coordination to the Shared Service teams.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
- Bachelors degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related business field with a CPA.
- Seven (7) years of functional financial experience in healthcare finance leadership, physician practice management, and/or healthcare operations in a large, complex, integrated health system or similarly complex healthcare provider setting.
- Five (5)+ years of management experience.
- Must have an understanding of the role of Third-Party Payers, including Government Organizations.
- Must have general knowledge of variations in Net Revenues, Key Indicators and variable costs.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to work as a key team lead in developing and enforcing accountability strategies required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
- CPA or MBA strongly desired.
- Community Hospital financial experience highly preferred.
- Experience within a Shared Services model highly desired.
