As a flight nurse for Penn State Health, Dan’s “office” is 2,000 feet in the air inside one of the health system’s iconic Life Lion helicopters. It’s been his home away from home for nearly 12 years.

A graduate of Penn State, Dan bleeds blue and white. His wife is also a Penn State grad and a registered nurse at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. On weekends, you can find the pair in State College watching their son play for the Blue Band or watching their daughter compete as a junior Olympian gymnast.

Like many of his colleagues in health care, having a network of supportive family and friends is key to managing a tough shift. And of course, there’s always coffee.
