SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for partnering with the Nurse Manager to assure department operations are carried out. Additional responsibilities include management and development of the unit, including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, and supervision of staff, assisting with developing and monitoring of budget, policies and procedures, both new employee orientation and ongoing education of staff, and management of quality improvement programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing or Associates Degree in Nursing and a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing to be obtained within two (2) years of hire. 
  • Three (3) years of related experience 
  • AHA BLS obtained prior to end of orientation
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact. 
  • PA Act 31 Child Abuse Training Certificate

Penn State Health Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Holy Spirit Medical Center

Penn State Health is expanding its behavioral health program in central Pennsylvania by integrating Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute's (PPI) inpatient services into Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill.

Beginning on July 13, Penn State Health Psychiatry and Behavioral Health will add 53 new inpatient behavioral health beds at Holy Spirit Medical Center across secure adult, adolescent and children's units. Combined with the hospital's existing 31-bed adult behavioral health unit, this expansion will create one of the largest and most comprehensive inpatient psychiatric programs in the region.

This integration brings together two longstanding behavioral health programs within Penn State Health’s integrated academic health system. By combining teams, expertise and resources, we will enhance the care we provide to patients and families across central Pennsylvania.


For Registered Nurses:

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join the inpatient Penn State Health Psychiatry and Behavioral Health nursing team at Holy Spirit Medical Center. Newly hired staff will begin training at Holy Spirit Medical Center in preparation for the July launch of expanded inpatient services.

In this role, you will provide direct inpatient psychiatric nursing care to adult, adolescent and pediatric patients experiencing acute mental health crises, mood disorders, psychotic disorders and co-occurring conditions. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team that includes psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, social workers, therapists and case managers who are all connected to Penn State Health Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and its academic and research mission.

As a member of this founding integrated team, you will play an active role in shaping the clinical practice workflows and the culture of care as the program launches and grows.
