SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Regional Medication Safety and Regulatory Compliance Pharmacist provides leadership, strategic direction, and subject matter expertise for medication safety, medication management, regulatory compliance, and accreditation readiness across the assigned hospitals, ambulatory practices and care settings.
This position collaborates with regional pharmacy, nursing, medical staff, quality, patient safety, risk management, and operational leaders to promote safe medication practices, regulatory compliance, system standardization, and continuous performance improvement relative to medication safety. This person will serve as a consultant, educator, advocate, and organizational leader in fostering a culture of safety, learning accountability and creating highly reliable systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
- Bachelor's degree-BS Pharmacy or PharmD required, Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of pharmacy experience in a health system setting.
- Minimum of five (5) years of pharmacy experience in Medication Safety and Joint Commission.
- Extensive knowledge of Medication Safety, Joint Commission, Board of Pharmacy, Department of Health, DEA, CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies.
- Active and valid Pennsylvania Pharmacist license or eligibility required.
- Training and/or experience in medication safety, quality improvement, performance improvement, regulatory and accreditation compliance required.
- PGY-1 Residency
- PGY-2 Residency in Medication Use Safety or Health Policy
- ISMP fellowship preferred
- ASHP/ISMP Medications Safety Certificate
- Additional certifications include Lean Six Sigma, Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS)
