SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be an integral member of the Surgical and Anesthesia Intensive Care Unit (SAICU) critical care team, working closely with attending physicians, residents, and the current physician assistant to provide high-quality care to critically ill surgical patients. Responsibilities include participating in daily multidisciplinary rounds, coordinating specialty consultations, maintaining communication with surgical teams, and assisting residents with order placement, procedures, and patient disposition. The APP also supports resident and medical student education by providing orientation and teaching during ICU rotations. This role provides in-house coverage during high-volume evening hours and participates in the overnight call rotation, while collaborating with nursing staff on quality improvement initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
- Either Master's Degree in a Critical Care or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program with a minimum of one (1) year CRNP experience (which could include clinical rotations or relevant clinical experience in applicable specialty) required and three (3) years critical care experience as a staff nurse required; or Master's Degree in a General Nurse Practitioner Program with a minimum of one (1) year CRNP experience (which could include clinical rotations or relevant clinical experience in applicable specialty) and five (5) years critical care experience as a staff nurse required.
- Currently licensed to practice as a CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.
- National certification as an advanced practice nurse required.
- Must possess knowledge of appropriate critical care, to include advanced cardiac life support and basic cardiopulmonary life support certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
- Acute critical care certification focus is preferred.
