Penn State Health Heart and Vascular Institute is seeking a qualified Physician Assistant candidate to work as an integral member of our Cardiac Surgery team at Holy Spirit Medical Center, with potential coverage at Hershey Medical Center as needed. Both hospitals are located just outside of Harrisburg, PA. The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing surgical assistance as well as pre and postoperative patient care, including test interpretation and patient referral under the responsibility and supervision of the surgeon. Prior experience caring for the cardiac surgery patient population and proficiency in performing endovascular vein harvest are required.
Penn State Health Heart and Vascular Institute is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join our Cardiac Surgery team based at Holy Spirit Medical Center, with the opportunity to provide coverage at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center as needed. Both locations are conveniently situated in the greater Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area.
In this role, the Physician Assistant will function as an integral member of the multidisciplinary cardiac surgery team, providing comprehensive care across the continuum of the surgical experience. Responsibilities include first assisting in the operating room, performing endovascular vein harvesting, managing preoperative and postoperative patient care, interpreting diagnostic tests, coordinating patient referrals, and collaborating closely with the supervising cardiac surgeons to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current or eligible Pennsylvania Physician Assistant licensure.
- Prior experience caring for cardiac surgery patients is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in endovascular vein harvesting is required.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment.
