SUMMARY OF POSITION:
We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and adaptable Family Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our primary care team as a Float APP. This position provides clinical coverage across multiple family medicine locations in the Harrisburg Metropolitan region, helping maintain access to high-quality care during provider vacations, leaves of absence, staffing needs, and periods of increased patient volume. Because this is a float position, the APP will also support the broader primary care network through inbox management and other clinical administrative responsibilities when direct patient care needs are low.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with patients across the lifespan, adapting quickly to different practice environments, and partnering effectively with physicians, APPs, nurses, and support staff.
The Advanced Practice Provider follows established nursing standards, procedures, and practices, and gives specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide comprehensive primary care to patients across the lifespan, including preventive, acute, and chronic care. Evaluate, diagnose, and treat common medical conditions within the APP’s scope of practice; perform physical examinations; develop treatment plans; prescribe medications; and manage chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, asthma, and other common primary care diagnoses. Provide preventive services, health counseling, and age-appropriate screenings; order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies; and perform or assist with appropriate office-based procedures based on training and credentialing. Adapt efficiently to varying workflows, electronic medical record environments, and clinical teams while coordinating referrals and collaborating with specialists and other members of the care team. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation. During periods when scheduled patient-care needs are limited, provide inbox management support for other family medicine practices and providers within the organization, including reviewing and appropriately addressing patient portal messages, laboratory and diagnostic results, medication refill requests, and other clinical inbox items within the APP’s scope of practice, as well as assisting with results and messages requiring timely clinical follow-up. Support access, continuity, and operational efficiency across the primary care network through other appropriate clinical and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- National certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse
- Current license to practice as CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners
- Two (2) years' work experience as an RN
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Previous experience working in multiple clinical locations or in a float/coverage role. At least 3 years of APP work experience.
