Successful candidates will be board certified/ board eligible in Cardiovascular Disease and will have completed an ACGME approved residency and fellowship. In addition, candidates should have experience in general cardiology and cardiac imaging and a strong interest in practicing in an inpatient academic hospital setting. Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in Pennsylvania. As the cardiology division represents a component of the unique Heart & Vascular Institute, collaborative multidisciplinary research initiatives are facilitated.
This inpatient focused cardiology position will involve a blend of day and night coverage for a week at a time in a rotating fashion with other faculty. Outpatient responsibilities will be limited. The successful candidate will manage a full spectrum of inpatient cardiology patients except for advanced heart failure and transplant patients, for which there is a separate robust service. There is also a Heart & Vascular Intensive Care Unit where patients are co-managed with intensivists in our Institute.
As faculty members employed by Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, qualified candidates will be involved in clinical and academic activity. Successful candidates will be skilled and enthusiastic teachers as our inpatient teams consist of medical students, residents, cardiology fellows and advanced practice providers. This position will require a cardiologist who has strong interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team. The level of faculty appointment and salary will be commensurate with experience and training.
