During his time at the College of Medicine Parker Burrows, MD, ‘23, found that the college was more than an academic institution; it was a transformative environment that shaped his trajectory in medicine.

“From day one, the school’s flexibility and support allowed me to tailor my education and medical school experience,” said Burrows. “Advising, faculty mentorship, and shadowing were pivotal in identifying my future in medicine.”

Now, as a second-year anesthesiology resident at Penn State Health, Parker is thankful for his continued longitudinal experience in Hershey. As his training continues, so too does the support and mentorship in his residency program, helping to balance clinical time and autonomy.

He believes the institution’s commitment to both academic excellence and personal growth have helped shape him into a compassionate and capable physician.

“Penn State didn’t just teach me medicine, it gave me the foundation and direction to become a physician who’s prepared to lead, care and continually grow,” said Burrows.

It’s stories like these that drive our purpose.
