Welcoming every patient with warmth and compassion

Eric Wayman
Greeter
Lancaster Pediatric Center
Since Lancaster Pediatric Center first opened its doors in 2022, Eric Wayman has welcomed thousands of patients and their families with a warm smile and a kind word.
“It is the joy of my life,” says the grandfather of 16. “I would do this job as a volunteer until I couldn’t do it anymore. That’s how much I love it.”
Eric’s role goes far beyond just being the practice’s official greeter. He wears many hats – cleaning up the play areas, ensuring the television stations are child-friendly and even coordinating the food trucks that visit the practice. At the same time, his dedication to putting everyone at ease inspired him to learn how to greet each family in their native language.
“It comforts the patients that don’t speak English if I know how to say "Hello," "Good morning," and "How can I help you?" he says. “My goal is to be sure that every person coming in that door feels welcome. It is really humbling, and I love doing it!”
It’s stories like these that drive our purpose.
