About Me

I joined Penn State Health Children’s Hospital in 2022 as an assistant professor of Pediatrics. I am both a neonatologist and a geneticist. I was previously on faculty at West Virginia University.

My clinical and research interests include rapid exome/genome sequencing in neonates, fetal and neonatal presentation of rare diseases, increasing awareness of genetics in medicine and genetic literacy, equitability of genetic testing, neonatal nutrition, and increasing the use of maternal breast milk in NICU patients. I currently serve as the site primary investigator for the NICUnet study, a multi-center clinical trial to uncover the science and genetics behind rare events such as unexplained neonatal deaths and to support and inform families who have experienced the death of their newborn. In addition to caring for patients in the NICU, I see patients in the Genetics Clinic on an outpatient basis.
