About Me

Dr. Nelson S. Yee is the team leader of gastrointestinal oncology at Penn State Cancer Institute and Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and an associate professor of medicine at Penn State College of Medicine. As a board-certified medical oncologist, Dr. Yee specializes in diagnosing and treating patients with cancer in various digestive organs, including the pancreas, biliary tract, liver, and gastrointestinal tract and colon.

As the principal investigator of clinical studies targeting malignant diseases of the digestive system, Dr. Yee develops new therapies, predictive biomarkers, and therapeutic targets. He has published numerous research articles, reviews, case reports, editorials, commentaries and book chapters and presented at research conferences in China, Hong Kong, Macao, Germany and the U.S. Additionally, he is an invited reviewer of grant applications for funding organizations around the globe.

After completing dual Bachelor of Science degrees in pharmacy and chemistry at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Dr. Yee earned Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy degrees at Weill Cornell Medical College and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. At Hospital of University of Pennsylvania, he pursued clinical training in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. Before joining Penn State College of Medicine, Dr. Yee taught medicine at University of Pennsylvania and University of Iowa.
