Whether you’re expecting your first baby or your sixth, the birth of your child is a moment you’ll never forget. At Lancaster Medical Center, our Obstetrics and Gynecology team is here to make your delivery day and the days leading up to it all that you’ve dreamed of. You shape your birth experience by telling us what matters most to you. Our experienced physicians and nurse-midwives at Lancaster Medical Center listen and provide personalized care to meet your unique needs and preferences. We’re a family-friendly hospital. We look at what’s best for the mother, partner and baby. We welcome you to tour the Family Birthing Suite to learn more about its features including:
- Private labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) rooms
- Level II NICU opening Fall 2026
- Birthing tubs located in four of the LDRP rooms
- Full-time lactation nurse available for breastfeeding support
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)-trained nurse on every shift

Coordinated Specialty Care
Obstetric and neonatal patients who need advanced specialty services will benefit from the locally coordinated care provided between clinical teams at Lancaster Medical Center, Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital. Our Children’s Hospital in Hershey has a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the only NICU in the region prepared to handle the most complex cases.

In 2025, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, has designated Lancaster Medical Center as a Keystone 10-designated facility. This designation signifies our successful implementation of evidence-based maternity care practices to help improve breastfeeding care and rates, as well as improving the health of new mothers and babies. - In-office ultrasounds that are American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine-certified
- Outpatient lactation visits for our patients who deliver at Lancaster Medical Center
- Expertise in vaginal delivery after C-section, as well as breech deliveries
