At Lancaster Medical Center, our Obstetrics and Gynecology team is here to make your delivery day and the days leading up to it all that you’ve dreamed of. You shape your birth experience by telling us what matters most to you. Our experienced physicians and nurse-midwife at Lancaster Medical Center listen and provide personalized care to meet your unique needs and preferences. We’re a family-friendly hospital. We look at what’s best for the mother, partner and baby. We welcome you to tour the Family Birthing Suite to learn more about its features including:

  • Private labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) rooms
  • Birthing tubs located in four of the LDRP rooms
  • Full-time lactation nurse available for breastfeeding supoort
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)-trained nurse on every shift
  • Breastfeeding community support group meetings in Our Way Café
  • Specialized childbirth support for patients with high BMIs  
  • Operating room on the same floor for planned and unexpected cesarean deliveries
  • Intensive Care Unit to keep moms who need special care near their babies
  • Aromatherapy and Bluetooth speakers to provide comfort throughout your stay

Coordinated Specialty Care

Obstetric and neonatal patients who need advanced specialty services will benefit from the locally coordinated care provided between clinical teams at Lancaster Medical Center, Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. Our Children’s Hospital in Hershey has a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the only NICU in the region prepared to handle the most complex cases.
