“I try to be a step ahead of what others’ needs are,” Wendy Marumoto-Vlahos says. “Anticipating questions in advance keeps me on my toes at all times.”

As senior coordinator administrative support and executive assistant for Penn State Health Information Services, Wendy plays a key role in keeping the health system’s critical information systems running smoothly. She organizes daily tasks, keeps stakeholders updated on system issues, and makes sure the technical staff has what they need to maintain and improve the technological infrastructure that is vital to the delivery of academic-level care.

One of the favorite parts of her job is planning quarterly events with her team’s Work Life Spirit Committee. She enjoys coming up with fun, creative ideas to bring people together and show support for the department. Her background as a graphic designer and floral designer helps her add visual flair to the events, making them even more special.

Three years after joining the health system, Wendy is still motivated by the same reason she started: working with dedicated and talented people who support each other.

“The people at Penn State Health work as a team,” she says. “There’s so much pride and spirit here, from offering the best possible medical care to cheering for Penn State football.”

It’s stories like these that drive our purpose.
