When Sean Mahase, MD, joined Penn State Health as a radiation oncologist, he was eager to focus his expertise on some of the field’s most complex and sensitive cases, such as pediatric cancers, head and neck cancers and brain tumors in adults.

“These subspecialties demand a great deal of nuance and multidisciplinary compassionate care,” he says. 

In the four years since, Dr. Mahase has helped to build a program that a growing number of patients depend upon, both for its personalized approach to care and its access to leading-edge medicine.

“Patients are traveling from other states to meet with us,” he says. “We’ve added a range of advanced treatments and innovations, and the growing number of referrals to Penn State Health reflect the trust patients and providers place in our expertise.”
