Driven by a passion for bridging health disparities, third-year medical student Sai Kurapati is advancing innovation in post-cataract surgery recovery.

Recognizing the challenges elderly patients face in adhering to complex eye drop regimens, she joined a project through the Center for Medical Innovation's (CMI) I-Corps program to develop an eye implant for treating post-surgery inflammation.

Kurapati saw the implant’s potential to revolutionize ophthalmic care and joined CMI’s Innovation Fellows Program to further its development.

“To me as a future physician, I think the most fascinating part is really seeing the bench to bedside translation of these ideas play out and the transformative potential they could have on patient lives,” said Kurapati.

It’s stories like these that drive our purpose.
