“I feel honored and excited to be part of opening the new Penn State Health Cancer Center at Hampden Medical Center,” says Rebecca Gingrich, MSN, RN, associate vice president of cancer services in Penn State Health’s West Region. “The Center will be life-changing for people. Our patients can stay in their home community close to family and support systems with all cancer services in one building, seamlessly integrating care. And patients will have access to additional clinical trials from the Penn State Cancer Institute in Hershey.”
With 25 years as an oncology staff nurse, research nurse, inpatient and outpatient nurse coordinator, and leader, Becky has always been committed to advocating for patients with cancer. Over the years, she developed strong patient and family relationships and worked closely with the physicians and nurses caring for them. Now, she will be responsible for the successful implementation of the new cancer center’s day-to-day operations and ensuring each patient has a consistently positive experience.
“Every patient’s journey is different. We must do everything to support them in meeting their personal goals from diagnosis and treatment to survivorship or end-of-life care,” she says.
It’s stories like these that drive our purpose.
