Ensuring every patient gets the care they need

Leah Holmberg, MSN, RN, CPN
Practice Site Manager
General Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology
Penn State Health Medical Group – Nyes Road
As a child with severe asthma, Leah Holmberg spent more time in the hospital than she would have liked. She has vivid memories of the nurses during those stays who were there when her mom couldn’t offer comfort, care and a sense of calm when everything felt overwhelming.
“I always wanted to be that source of support for another caregiver or child,” Leah says. “That’s how, from an early age, I knew I wanted to be a nurse.”
Nearly 17 years after joining Milton S. Hershey Medical Center as a graduate nurse, Leah’s role has evolved, but her mission remains the same. Now serving as practice site manager for General Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology at Penn State Health Medical Group – Nyes Road, she ensures every patient gets the attention and care they need.
“I love making sure our patients are well taken care of. We’re here for them when they’re sick and when they’re well,” she says. “A big part of that is supporting my staff. I love mentoring them and helping them achieve their dreams. Penn State Health has always believed in me, and I want to do the same for my team.”
It’s stories like these that drive our purpose.
