About Me

Dr. Hennrikus is professor of orthopaedics, medical director of the Pediatric Bone and Joint clinic at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and associate dean of continuing education at Penn State College of Medicine. After earning his medical degree from Georgetown University, he completed his orthopaedic residency at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego and his pediatric orthopaedic fellowship at Harvard University and Children's Hospital in Boston. He is board certified in orthopaedics and orthopaedic sports medicine.

Dr. Hennrikus' professional accomplishments include serving as the trauma editor for the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, the orthopaedic editor for the American Academy of Pediatrics Grand Rounds Journal and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference and Exhibition Planning Group. He has authored more than 120 scientific articles and book chapters.

He received the American Academy of Pediatrics Distinguished Service Award in 2016 and is past chair of both the American Academy of Pediatrics Orthopaedic Section and American Academy of Pediatrics Practical Pediatrics Continuing Medical Education committee. Dr. Hennrikus is also a former board member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society, the Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine Society and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons. In 2000, he became the inaugural Pediatric Orthopaedic Society travelling fellow to China.

Dr. Hennrikus retired from the U.S. Navy as a captain in 2006. He and his wife have five children. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, hiking, and playing basketball and tennis.
