Dr. Sharma is a Board Certified radiation oncologist, Head of Radiation Oncology at Penn State Health St. Joseph Cancer Center and an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He joins Penn State Health from the University of Maryland, an NCI-designated cancer center and will be based primarily at Penn State Health St. Joseph Cancer Center. Dr. Sharma completed his residency in radiation oncology at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia.
Dr. Sharma has expertise in treating cancers of all types with radiation therapy and is nationally and internationally recognized as an expert in liver-directed radiation therapy. He is experienced in a wide array of the latest radiation treatment options to care for patients with common and rare forms of cancer while improving tumor targeting and minimizing treatment-related side effects.
He has been recognized nationally and internationally as a clinical trial principal investigator and for his contributions to the American College of Radiology, American Society of Radiation Oncology, Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, and is a past member of the National Institutes of Health Rectal/Anal Task Force.
