About Me

Dr. José A. Torres Garcia is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, a member of the Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine Division, and Co-Director of Pediatric Sleep Medicine at Penn State Health Children's Hospital.

Dr. Torres Garcia earned his bachelor of science from East Carolina University. He then attended medical school at The Ohio State College of Medicine, where he also earned a Master in Health Administration. Following graduation, Dr. Torres Garcia completed Pediatric residency training at St. Louis University and Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. He then pursued further training in Pediatric Pulmonology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Torres Garcia then moved west for an additional Sleep Medicine fellowship at the University of Colorado, where he trained at Colorado Children's Hospital, UC Health, the Eastern Colorado Veterans Administration Medical Center, and National Jewish Health.  

His clinical and research interests have included pediatric sleep disorders, non-invasive ventilation, asthma, childhood obesity, pediatric bariatric surgery, multi-disciplinary care, adherence, patient safety, quality improvement, and helping underserved populations.  

He greatly enjoys helping families make the best decisions for their families and working with them to provide young people with healthy and happy childhoods. Dr. Torres Garcia is also a firm believer that everyone could stand to get a little more sleep.
