Penn State Health is seeking a Vice President and Chief Financial Officer to support our east region consisting of Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading as well as Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center our newest hospital anticipated to open in 2022.

Hershey Medical CenterPenn State Children's Hospital, and Penn State Cancer Institute based in Hershey, Pa.;  Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill, Pa.; Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, Pa.; and more than 2,300 physicians and direct care providers at more than 125 medical office locations.


Penn State Health shares an integrated strategic plan and operations with Penn State College of Medicine, the University's medical school. With campuses in State College and Hershey, Pa., the College of Medicine boasts a portfolio of more than $100 Million in funded research and more than 1,700 students and trainees in medicine, nursing, and other health care professions and biomedical research.


The Vice President of Finance, East Region CFO (St. Joseph’s and Lancaster Medical Center) is part of the Penn State Health (PSH) finance department and reports directly to the Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of Penn State Health (PSH). The VP of Finance, East Region also has a dotted line reporting relationship to the President of St. Joseph’s, the President of Lancaster Medical Center, and the Regional President for this area. Responsible for day-to-day financial accountability for both the facilities as part of the senior leadership team for the entities.


The individual provides financial and administrative leadership with responsibilities which include: the continuous implementation of strategies to increase operational efficiencies with no compromise to quality of care while reducing costs; defining and establishing the necessary management and accountability systems to support a customer-driven, results-oriented and high-performance finance function; leading a coordination with the Community Medical Group; responsible for the optimum strategic and operational effectiveness of general accounting, decision support, and finance support for the various hospital departments.


The VP of Finance, East Region is a key leader in the organization, while also building the collective partnership within the PSH Finance Shared Services model, to leverage the centralized functions in a cohesive and collaborative fashion, while also utilizing the resources to best provide actionable financial insights to the senior leadership team.


The VP of Finance, East Region has executive level responsibilities and authorities for the East Region finances and is an integral part of each entity's executive leadership team.

Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience in a senior financial leadership role in a large, complex organization is required.




Healthcare and systems experience highly desirable

Community hospital financial experience highly preferred

Multi-facility health system experience highly preferred

Experience within shared services model desirable
