SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for identification and maintenance of data on all cancer patients in accordance with the Cancer Program Standards as set forth by the ACOS Commission on Cancer and the Pennsylvania Cancer Registry regulations. Provides statistical information and handles study requests and special projects as needed. Serves as technical resource for the Cancer Institute. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of TMSHMC in its efforts to provide quality care and patient satisfaction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

High School diploma or equivalent

At least 18 months experience, with knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology and pathology.

ICD-9-CM, ICD-O and TNM coding experience in an acute care setting preferred, but not required.

CTR required within 24-36 months of hire.

Must become and maintain active membership in PACR within 12 months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

Experience as a Tumor Registry Assistant preferred.

RHIA, RHIT, CCS and/or Certified Tumor Registry (CTR) is preferred, but not required.
