Technical Lab Associate - EVENING SHIFT - Specimen Processing Area

Hours: 3:00p-11:30p weekdays, rotate weekends

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for receiving laboratory specimens (blood and other body fluids), insuring specimen identity and acceptability; entering orders for laboratory testing into the Lab Information System; and entering patient demographic and insurance information into the patient registration system. Prepares specimens for analysis. Answers telephone and provides information related to specimen requirements, test availability, specimen testing status; provides laboratory results. Prepares specimens for referral to outside reference laboratories and insures that all storage requirements are met.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Training of up to 18 months beyond the high school level or equivalent knowledge required 

Applicants trained outside of the United States must provide documentation of equivalency evaluation of their education and training to ensure it is equivalent to CLIA requirements. 

The equivalency evaluations will be performed by a nationally recognized organization. Ex. National Association Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES), the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE). 

The applicant is responsible for paying the cost of the equivalency evaluation. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

6 months job related experience preferred.

Able to sit occasionally; stand constantly; walk frequently. 

Able to lift 0-10 lbs. constantly; 11-35 lbs. occasionally. 

Able to carry 0-10 lbs. frequently; 11-35 lbs. occasionally. 

Able to push 0-10 lbs. constantly; 11-20 lbs. frequently; 21-35 lbs. occasionally. 

Able to pull 0-20 lbs. frequently; 21-35 lbs. occasionally. 

Able to climb occasionally; reach constantly. 

Able to use hands for simple/firm grasping.
