JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Sterile Processing Technician coordinates and collaborates the overall cleaning, decontamination, assembly and dispensing of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies needed for daily surgical procedures in surgery and related departments.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Responsible for control of all parts of the sterilization process including decontamination, prep, pack, sterilize, documentation of sterilization, and sterile storage including remediation of equipment failures and hazards.

 

EDUCATION:

 

High school diploma or GED Required

Satisfactory completion of a program of orientation and training related to sterilization, processing, decontamination and distribution of supplies.

  

EXPERIENCE:

 

Surgical Technician or previous experience as Sterile Processing Technician preferred

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

 

Provide evidence of one of the following certifications :  IAHCSMM Certified Registered Central Services Technician or CBSPD Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician
