Penn State Health-State College is currently seeking a full time BC/BE core faculty member for our Family Medicine residency program located in beautiful Centre County, PA (better known as Happy Valley). Priority will be given to candidates interested in inpatient medicine.

The Family and Community Medicine Residency Program strives to provide excellent education in training family physicians to provide comprehensive, compassionate, coordinated and continuous high-quality, safe, cost-effective patient-centered care to the community served by our program. Core faculty members have a significant role in the education and supervision of residents and must devote a significant portion of their effort to resident education and/or administration. Core faculty members, as a component of their activities, must teach, mentor, advise, evaluate, support and provide formative feedback to residents. Core faculty members support the program’s leadership in developing, implementing and assessing curriculum and assessing residents’ progress toward achievement of competence in the specialty. Additionally, core faculty members are encouraged to engage in their own scholarly activity and regularly participate in organized discussions, rounds, journal clubs and conferences.

This Core Faculty position is supported with a 0.6 FTE within the core residency program, combined with a required 0.4 FTE in direct provision of clinical access and care, unless designated otherwise by the Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine. Direct clinical access care will be provided within one of our four regional outpatient care facilities, while inpatient care is provided within our regional collaborative partnership inside of Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Job Requirements

      • Medical degree - M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent and unrestricted PA medical license
        · Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program
        · Board certification/eligibility in Family Medicine
        · Experience in an academic setting preferred
      • Bi-lingual speaking skills highly preferred (but not required)
