SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The RN, Utilization Review nurse for Patient Access performs systematic review of all observation, inpatient, outpatient surgery and swing bed patients in patient care area from (pre)admission through dismissal to assure the most efficient use of available health facilities and services while adhering to Federal and State requirements and guidelines. The Utilization Review RN Registered Nurse reviews all preadmissions and admissions within guidelines to assure criteria has been med for appropriate level of care. The Utilization Nurse will communicate effectively with the attending physician any questions regarding patient status and any issue concerning patient care activities. This position is patient-facing, working from within the Emergency Dept. This is a collaborative position with ED and hospitalist providers, nursing, case management.
Graduate of an accredited RN Registered Nursing Program.
Minimum of two years acute hospital experience in nursing and/or utilization review or management.
RN Registered Nurse licensure in the state of practice
