The Heart & Vascular Institute Observation Unit (HVOU) is a 15 bed unit caring for patients of floor and intermediate acuity. The HVOU primarily serves the heart failure, cardiovascular, structural heart, electrophysiology, and vascular service line patients.


The HVOU staff nurse will provide pre and post procedural care for patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures, Monday through Friday, 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. Our highly skilled nurses are responsible for delivering safe, individualized, holistic, and patient centered care, while providing an exceptional experience.


This position does require occasional Saturday morning coverage to discharge patients kept overnight for post-procedural observation. Saturday hours are typically 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Our experienced and compassionate team consists of Patient Care Secretaries (PCS), Registered Nurses, Charge Nurses, a Clinical Staff Leader (CSL), Nurse Manager, and multiple on-site Advanced Practice Providers.

Registered Nurse with a license to practice professional nursing in the state of Pennsylvania or a Registered Nurse from another state with a Temporary PA Practice Permit


6 months of experience working as a RN






Bachelor’s Degree


Acute Care Cardiology, Critical Care, ED or PACU Experience


Professional certification




Able to sit occasionally; stand constantly; walk frequently.


Able to lift/carry 0-10 lbs frequently; 11-50 lbs occasionally.


Able to push/pull 0-20 lbs frequently; 21-75 lbs occasionally.


Able to climb occasionally; reach constantly.


Able to use hand for simple/firm grasping.
