Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is hiring talented registered respiratory therapists to support our adult critical care patients.
Our Registered Respiratory Therapists are responsible for providing respiratory care procedures to critically ill patients including participating in their transport via ground or air as necessary to facilitate the best outcomes.
Penn State Health’s flagship 564-bed medical center, Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is central Pennsylvania’s only locally based academic medical center. A Magnet-designated hospital since 2007, it provides high-level, patient-focused medical care. The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is the only medical facility in Pennsylvania to be accredited as a Level 1 trauma center for both children and adults. Hershey Medical Center shares its Hershey campus with Penn State Children’s Hospital, Penn State Cancer Institute and Penn State College of Medicine.
Our Registered Respiratory Therapists:
Deliver aerosolized medications as prescribed
Report patient response and records in patient’s records.
Assess patients and manage life support equipment with medical team; evaluate need for mechanical ventilation using appropriate testing procedures.
Assess patients to determine respiratory therapy treatment plan; consult with attending physician, and recommend appropriate care based upon evaluation.
Respond to emergency calls (codes, traumas, and rapid responses).
Evaluate the patient’s needs for airway care and secretion removal.

Associates Degree from a CoARC approved program in Respiratory Therapy required.
Licensed as Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
RRT credential required.
ACLS or PALS/NRP certification required.
Critical thinking and multitasking skills required.
