Penn State Health Children’s Hospital Division of Developmental Medicine is seeking a PHD level Psychologist, licensed in PA and experienced with psychoeducational testing and evaluation of children and adolescents.

  • We are a division of 1 full time developmental physicians, 2 part-time developmental pediatricians and 1 Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • The division staff includes excellent administrative and scheduling support.
  • Assessment and treatment personnel include a speech therapist with interest in speech apraxia as well as use of the Hanen method, and education specialist who works with both schools and parents to translate the team’s recommendations into the classroom, and LPN coordinator who obtains prior authorizations and works with families to answer questions and discuss concerns and a part-time social worker to assist with obtaining medical assistance and finding needed home services.
  • We provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary evaluations for children with suspected autism, ADHD, learning disorders and variety of developmental impairments.
  • Special interests of the division include psychopharmacology for treatment of aggression, use of medical marijuana in the setting of autism, and developing a collaboration with the Autism Division in Psychiatry.

What we’re seeking:

  • We are seeking someone who has completed a doctoral program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). In addition, they should have 5 or more years of experience with a variety of testing instruments to evaluate cognition and achievement for ages 2 through 18.
  • Ability to acquire a license to practice in the State of Pennsylvania BC/BE
  • Experience with the full range of developmental disorders, particularly evaluation, diagnosis and management of autism, attention deficit disorder. Areas of specialization in other aspects of development including aspects of behavior management, sleep management, therapy using a variety of techniques for anxiety management would be welcomed, but not required.
  • Interest and experience in teaching medical students, pediatric residents and other learners in the clinical setting.
  • An interest in research is not required
