Penn State Health Life Lion EMS in Berks County is seeking skilled and dedicated Paramedics that are responsible for administering advanced life support care to patients at the scene and during transport. Seeking team members that can collaborate effectively with pre-hospital team members and medical staff. Life Lion Paramedics perform basic and advanced life support treatment to include but not limited to: airway management including intubation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, EKG monitoring, defibrillation, medication administration, intravenous access, splinting bandaging, emergency obstetrics, burn management, triage, patient packaging and transport. Paramedics occasionally work in other assigned patient areas of the Penn State Hershey Hospital in order to maintain clinical skills necessary to maintain certification. Opportunities exist to attend in-service and continuing education programs to improve and maintain professional knowledge and skills. Life Lion Paramedics are part of a highly reputable team that supports the mission of Penn State Health, a leading Academic Medical Center and Level 1 trauma center.
HS Diploma required.
Graduate of an approved Paramedic Training Program required.
Eligible for Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic certification within the Commonwealth of PA or PHRN (Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse) required.
Basic Life Support certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required.
A valid Driver's License is required and eligible to operation an EMS vehicle in the Commonwealth of PA required.
Completion of approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Training program required.
PA DOH EMSVO eligibility required.
NIMS (100, 200, 700 & 800) is required within 30 days of start date.
Hazmat awareness training is required within 30 days of employment.
Must obtain Medical Command within 90 days of start date.
3 months of Advanced Life Support experience preferred.
Able to stand/walk frequently; sit occasionally.
Able to lift/carry 0-200 lbs. frequently.
Able to push/pull 0-200 lbs. frequently.
Able to lift/carry and push/pull over 200 lbs. infrequently with assistance or use of lifting equipment.
Able to climb occasionally, reach constantly.
Able to use hands for simple/firm grasping.
Able to work in all environmental and weather conditions.
6 months of Advanced Life Support experience preferred.
