The Heart and Vascular Institute of the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is seeking professional advanced practice provider to work as an integral member of the Cardiac Surgery team. Primary responsibilities of this position include admitting patients, performing history & physicals, inpatient rounds and medical management of intermediate and acute care level patients, planning and discharge of patients, and participation with surgeons in inpatient consults. The NP functions as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and provides a wide range of patient services to a specific patient population across the continuum of health care. By utilizing the nursing process, scientific reasoning and critical problem solving, NPs practice within the scope of responsibilities and prescriptive authority defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and the Medical Staff Executive at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. This position requires an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree.


  • Master’s degree in Nursing with clinical specialization required. 
  • Two years work experience as a RN required. 
  • Currently licensed to practice as a CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required. 
  • Must have demonstrated effective skills in consultation. 
  • Certification as an NP in the area of practice specialization is preferred.
